Operations MANAGER
 

Join a high performance management team for one of the Northwest’s leading fiberglass and composite manufacturers.  Assume responsibility for the management of all aspects of the production operation for this manufacturer. The Operations Manager is a proactive, strategic thinker whose skills contribute to the efficient, systematic and profitable operation of the company’s production department. You will provide overall leadership and direction to direct reports responsible for production, distribution logistics and maintenance operations.  You will implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality, and ensure continuous improvement. This manager has the proven ability to lead and grow the production team using Lean Manufacturing principles.  Must understand product engineering and its effect on production. 
Reports to the President.

KEY FUNCTIONS
 

  1. Optimize, implement and successfully manage production efficiency and quality standards.
  2. Manage the day-to-day activities of the manufacturing process to assure that safety and best practices are maximized.
  3. Manage the employment and training of production staff.
  4. Based on Lean Principles, analyze and implement process flow improvements, to include capabilities for growth. 
  5. Develop and oversee implementation and administration of department policies, systems, and procedures.
  6. Determines optimum staffing model for the company.
  7. Meet with Engineering department to ensure products produced meet the specifications of the engineering department.
  8. Prepare operational analyses for the company.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the daily production/operations of the company and all its components.
  2. Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal policies and regulations.
  3. Maintain and improve process efficiency and quality standards adherence.
  4. Recommend optimal production solutions and equipment needs.
  5. Over see development of all operations procedure manuals.
  6. Responsible for staff adherence and improvement using Lean Manufacturing principles
  7. Manage production personnel: Work allocation, training, and problem resolution.
  8. Evaluate employee performance and motivate to achieve peak productivity.
  9. Work with management team to implement new or revise current products and procedures: labeling, packaging, ingredient research, costing. 
  10. Maintain a proactive equipment maintenance program.
  11. Forecast facility capabilities and manage annual production operating budget.
  12. Measure and upgrade standards for all job functions and procedures.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1.       Five (5) years of equivalent managerial experience in the manufacturing industry

2.       Excellent computer (Microsoft Suite) and analytical skills

3.       Excellent oral and written communication skills

4.      Understanding of engineering and product development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1.      Proven history of successful goal setting, achievement, and employee management.

2.      Excellent strategic planning expertise.

3.      Procurement management.

4.      Has designed and/or implemented OSHA programs.

5.      Proven success with efficient production line organization, layout and output improvement.

6.      Experienced team builder and participant.

7.      Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to motivate and lead a diverse work force to achieve desired results.

8.      Proven history of successful creation and implementation of training programs & operational procedures.

9.      Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and the ability to lead team to constant Lean improvement.

10. Engineering knowledge, product development and design oversight  

11. Knowledge of fiberglass and composite manufacturing desired.
